About Celestial Mountain Music
Lo & Mary Gordon came to Brevard with their children Tim & Matt Gardner, in 1993. They were looking for the ideal small mountain town to pursue their favorite pastime of playing old time mountain music. After realizing that there was no serious music store serving the large local population of bluegrass, folk & old time players, they decided that a traditional music store would be the perfect complement to Lo's plans to build banjos. They opened Celestial Mountain Music in 1995. Mary has been operating the store ever since, while Lo has been working in his banjo business, Cedar Mountain Banjos. Tim has been building banjos, working in the store, and teaching lessons for the last several years, in addition to performing and recording.
